SHE DEFINES! An inspiration

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

SHE DEFINES was birthed out of a need and desire to mentor the young women with tools that can help them find their true identity. Let me demonstrate this with a story. Meet Linda, 24, who has finished her undergraduate studies and is looking for a job. Apart from the job, she has a mother who is sick and needs medical bills sorted out. She is the first born of 6 children and all of them are looking up to her for financial upkeep, including school fees. Her current boyfriend does not understand her when she when she tells him she needs time on her own to unwind. He thinks she does not have time for their relationship.

Linda is sometimes overwhelmed with the pressure to look for a job and wonders if she is wrong to think that her family is a burden. She gets irritable most of the time when she is with her friends, and they have recently distanced themselves from her since they are not sure how to act around her without upsetting her. This is one of the many stories that young adult women face. There is a need to move on with life, but certain needs cannot be "escapable". Life transitions such as forming identity and forging on a career can be delayed and frustration can kick in very easily.

Is it possible for Linda to still have these responsibilities and live a functional and healthy life? What does she need to know or do that can help her reach her goals in life despite the looming burdens? Young adulthood is very pivotal in ensuring that key life decisions are made that would lead to a further fulfilling life. The program looks at four things that helps young adults navigate this stage with the benefit of a mental health professional:

  • Education on what transitions happen during this stage and what that means.

  • Drawing a life map through the WALL CANVAS

  • Engaging in Christian Spiritual formation process

  • Developing the woman leader in them.

Engaging in these four areas is foundational to developing healthy relationships, serves as an anchor for self-growth and development and one gets access to interact with a professional in areas that are sensitive and vulnerable through individual therapy. Feel free to contact us for more information on how to join the program.
